Which plan do I need?

Most websites fit on our Value plan. Relatively few websites have enough traffic to exceed our Value plan's visit or bandwidth limits. If you're not sure, start there - or contact us. And remember, there is rollover protection (read below). You can always upgrade plans if necessary but we can probably help you save a money by avoiding that.

If you're coming from another host, you can log into their control panel to check your storage usage. Usually only websites with a large set of media archives need a higher plan. Many websites host media on YouTube, SoundCloud, Vimeo, etc. (embedding players on their websites) to save storage space. Services like these are specially suited to media hosting and help you reach a wider audience.

How are visits defined?

If a user visits your website multiple times in one day from the same IP (e.g. their home Wi-Fi connection), that is counted as only one visit. We add the total number of visits for each day in a month to determine monthly visits. Our lowest plan allows for 25,000 monthly visits which is about 800 per day on average which is more than most of our customers need.

What is rollover protection for visits and bandwidth ?

Unused visits and bandwidth are rolled over for three months. This is to help keep you from having to upgrade plans or pay for overage if you have an unusually busy month (e.g. you invested in a massive marketing campaign for a limited time).

Will you move my website for me?

Yes, we'll move your website from your old host to WP Ultimate for free. After signing up, just complete the WordPress Migration Request form in your account area.

Is there a free trial period?

Yes, you can take advantage of our 14 day free trial. Your payment details will be collected at sign up in order to verify your account. You won't be charged if you cancel during the 14 day free trial period.

What is your refund policy?

We have a 30 day money back guarantee so you can try us without risk. Your full payment for hosting will be refunded if you cancel within 30 days. Add-ons such as domain registration are non-refundable.

Is email included?

We specialize in web hosting and leave email hosting to those who specialize in it. We can help you setup G Suite (formerly Google Apps) which will provide you with enterprise-level email hosting. It's basically Gmail but with addresses like user@yourname.com. Other options are Zoho Mail (free for up to 25 users) and Rackspace Email.

Can I use SFTP?

Yes, you may use SFTP to access your web space.

What happens if there is downtime?

Our redundant infrastructure makes significant downtime unlikely. We are able to guarantee 99.9% uptime. If uptime falls below this threshold we will, on request, provide prorated credits as follows.

  • 95% uptime or less: 100% credit
  • 95% – 98% uptime: 25% credit
  • 98% – 99% uptime: 15% credit
  • 99% – 99.5% uptime: 10% credit
  • 99.5% – 99.9% uptime: 5% credit
  • 99.9% – 100% uptime: No credit
How is support provided?

We're available 24/7 for support via our email ticket system. Please log into your account to open a ticket and we'll be happy to help. Live chat support is planned.

What is automatically updated?

WordPress core is automatically updated. We plan on adding an option to automatically update plugins and themes too.

Are any plugins disallowed?

We disallow a very small number of plugins in order to keep your site secure and running well. As long as you choose plugins that are actively developed and approved for the current WordPress version, chances are they will work just fine and not cause any issues. There are, however, certain plugins that we need to remove due to how they interact with our infrastructure or services, or because they have been found to be problematic or easily hacked. Please read Plugins to Avoid for a list of plugins and additional details.

Can I host a multisite network?

We currently only support single installations of WordPress.

Is caching included?

Yes, system level caching is built-in so your website gets a speed boost out of the box. There is no need to buy or mess with configuring a caching plugin.

How do backups work?

We automatically make daily backups of your website and keep a 30 day archive. You can also trigger a backup yourself whenever you want. Backups are stored offsite. You can restore and download backups in your account.

Do you have a staging feature?

Yes, we have a staging feature in beta that all users have access to. Staging is a way to launch your site on a temporary URL, make changes, play with things, and then when you are ready switch that to be your live site.

How much is domain registration?

$14.99/year for .com, .net, org and .info. Optional WHOIS privacy is $12/year. You may register a domain with us or use a domain registered at another registrar.

How much are SSL certificates?

Free and automatically installed for you. We integrate with Let's Encrypt to provide this. You'd typically pay and reinstall every year, but WP Ultimate saves you the money and hassle. Read How to Use SSL/HTTPS with WordPress in 3 Steps for details.

What will I see on my credit card statement?

"WP Managed Host" will show on your credit card statement.
